The release date of the debut Severed Fifth album, named Denied By Reign has been officially announced as Tuesday 21st October 2008. The album in its entirety will be freely available for download and sharing from severedfifth.com and various online music catalogs and bit torrent download sites.

Written, performed, recorded and produced entirely by Jono Bacon (Community lead for Ubuntu), the album touches a range of political and social topics, driven by a brutal, thundering style with pounding double bass drumming, grinding guitars and guttural vocals. Pre-release listening sessions has resulted in comparisons to Metallica, Cannibal Corpse, Slayer, Pantera, Decapitated and Hatebreed.

Metallica’s new track ‘The Day That Never Comes’ is available for streaming on the band’s Myspace page. The epic track is the first single to be released from their forthcoming release ‘Death Magnetic’ and is available for purchase through iTunes. The band has filmed a video for the track with Danish film director Thomas Vinterberg.

Five German bands have recorded cover versions of classic METALLICA songs for the first-ever “German Tribute to Metallica”. Between now and August 18, a new track from the tribute will be made available for free download each Tuesday and Friday via www.tribute-to-metallica.de.

Brother Cesare, a 62 year old monk from Milan hinterland, has a heart of metal and is the lead singer in a heavy metal band. The monk fell in love with metal some 15 years ago when he attended a Metallica concert. Brother Cesare, also known as Brother Metal, started playing and recording cassettes, firstly with “lighter” metal
music, but gradually he realised that what really moved him was the
hard core.
“Five minutes after meeting Brother Cesare I decided to go ahead,
because he manages to convey so much energy, that other musicians and
youngsters often don’t manage to express,” lead guitarist, Cesare
Zanotti, told Reuters.
Brother Metal recently appeared in the Gods of Metal festival in Italy,
along with giants such as Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Slayer, playing
to a crowd of leather-clad hard-core metal fans.
Brother Metal always wears his tradition brown robe and sandals.
Recently, Brother Metal has released his second album called ‘Misteri’ (Mysteries). The songs lyrics deal with real world issues like alcohol, drugs and about religion.
